Volunteer

There are so many ways that your help can benefit the Free Library and the Friends of the Free Library. Some of them take only a small amount of your time, but make a huge difference to your community.

Branch Friends Groups help ensure that their neighborhood library is a vibrant community resource by promoting programs and library resources, literacy and raising funds. You don't need to be a Friend to volunteer with the Friends, but why not join? You will meet your neighbors and publicize your library's programs, services, and materials, create programs that are important and fun. You can raise money for your branch through book sales, bake sales, white elephant sales, bus trips, raffles, and whatever ideas your creativity brings to the table. Each library branch and Group has its own special interests and collection needs. For more information on what Friends Groups do or how to volunteer contact Amy Dougherty at 215-567-4562 or email Amy or go to In the Neighborhood and scroll to your branch.

The Big Book Sale held in April is an annual used book fair to benefit the Friends of the Free Library of Philadelphia, Inc. Volunteers are needed leading up to and throughout the weekend event. For more information please call 215-567-0527 or email.
