Neighborhood Volunteers for Better Libraries
Begun in March 2003, Neighborhood Volunteers for Better Libraries (NVBL) offers on-going training, with technical and organizational support, to increase the capacity and number of viable Library Branch Friends Groups.
The goals of the program are to:
- Build Friends Group membership
- Create partnerships within the community
- Promote library's education resources
- Produce programs
- Fundraise for needs specific to branch libraries, including collections and programs
- Increase circulation
- Promote cultural awareness
- Promote literacy
- Promote life long learning
- Promote job readiness
- Promote civic awareness and activities
- Increase the number of library card holders
